An Ethylene Oxide (EtO) scrubber is a critical air pollution control and safety system designed to treat exhaust gases containing ethylene oxide generated from chemical manufacturing units, sterilization facilities, pharmaceutical plants, and specialty processing operations. A robust scrubber system ensures consistent removal efficiency during these fluctuations, preventing breakthrough and minimizing the risk of flammable or toxic gas accumulation in downstream ducting and exhaust stacks. Material selection and system safety are also critical aspects of EtO scrubber design. Systems are typically constructed using corrosion-resistant materials such as FRP, PP, or HDPE, with careful control of static charge, pressure drop, and liquid distribution. Advanced EtO scrubbers incorporate features such as controlled liquid recirculation, temperature monitoring, emergency interlocks, and fail-safe operation to ensure continuous 24/7 reliability. Beyond regulatory compliance, EtO scrubbers significantly enhance overall plant safety by reducing explosion risk, protecting equipment, and improving workplace air quality.
