Venturi Scrubber

Venturi Scrubber

APZEM venturi scrubber is a highly efficient air pollution control device designed to remove fine particulate matter and gaseous pollutants from industrial exhaust streams. It operates on the principle of using a constricted venturi-shaped section to accelerate the gas stream, creating a high-velocity flow. As the contaminated gas passes through the narrow throat of the venturi, it encounters a scrubbing liquid, typically water or a chemical solution, introduced into the gas stream either before or at the throat.

The high velocity causes intense turbulence and atomization of the scrubbing liquid into fine droplets, which greatly increases the surface area for contact between the gas and the liquid. This enhanced contact facilitates the effective capture of particulate matter and absorption of soluble gases. The cleaned gas and liquid droplets are then separated in a downstream collection unit, such as a cyclone separator or a demister.

Venturi scrubbers are particularly effective for removing fine particulates and mists, making them ideal for applications in industries such as metal processing, chemical manufacturing, and power generation. They are also used to control emissions from incinerators and other combustion processes. The robust design and construction of venturi scrubbers allows them to handle high-temperature and high-velocity gas streams, making them versatile and reliable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Venturi Scrubbers are air pollution control units that effectively remove particulate matter like PM2. 5, PM10, emissions from industrial exhaust generated from industrial applications.

It operates on the principle of creating a high-velocity gas stream to induce turbulence and promote contact between the gas and a scrubbing liquid. This contact allows for the efficient removal of particulate matter and gases from the gas stream.

An ejector or jet venturi scrubber is usually installed on the exhaust flue gas stacks of large furnaces and other air exhaust systems.

A venturi scrubber consists of three main sections: a converging section, a throat section, and a diverging section
